There is an endless list of setbacks and issues we face as church leaders in 2022. In the past 2 years alone, the church has faced more than we could have ever imagined… and those issues haven’t entirely disappeared. We still are learning to manage the effects of the COVID pandemic, societal unrest, and worldwide violence and warfare.
The entire planet is searching for hope and peace amidst fear and conflict. During this time the church must be a beacon of light in this dark world. We are compelled to reach out and share with others the answer: the love of Jesus.
It is Jesus who brings healing.
It is Jesus who establishes peace.
It is Jesus who offers hope.
Jesus is the answer to the problem, but we know that there are still many practical issues we have, especially when it comes to how effectively we engage others and share this message. We know from Romans 10 that anyone who calls on the name of Jesus shall be saved, but verses 14-15 ask an important question in light of this statement:
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?”
We know from the past few years that superb online engagement is key in reaching people with the message of Jesus. It is no longer enough to just have a church service and hope people show up to hear the message. Through the digital world, we can bring the message of hope to the world exactly where they are.
We have the power to offer the solution to the world, but the solution can only have its full effect if it is heard by others. So how can we be more effective in the way we reach people with the message of God’s love? Let’s walk through the 3 major problems we see that hold us back from effectively sharing the message of Jesus digitally. And as the wise sage Vanilla Ice once said, “if there was a problem, yo, I'll solve it.”
When it comes to operating as a church online, consistent communication is key. Nothing is more frustrating for a potential visitor to be communicated with improperly, inappropriately, or in an untimely manner.
The primary way to solve this major problem is to value two-way communication. It is not enough to mindlessly post content and let it sit on the Internet without ever revisiting it. Communication online, especially on social media, is a two-way street. Without this back and forth dialogue, social media would just be a stagnant bulletin board.
A practical way to solve this problem is to reply to every comment, message, and tag on your social channels. It is ideal to reply within a few minutes, but if the content is negative or critical, it is wise to think your reply out strategically first.
Be sure to also consistently check your church’s email inboxes for any questions or inquiries about your community or ministries.
Above all, always treat those online with as much respect and attentiveness as you would to someone you were communicating with in person. People matter so being consistent in communicating with them matters!
Have you ever found yourself looking at your to-do list first thing in the morning and wondering “how will I ever get all of this done today?” You’re not alone.
If you find yourself pastoring or leading in a church in any capacity, odds are you don’t have an endless amount of time to work on your church’s social media and website content. In fact, that might not even be a task on your list at all.
Not having enough time is one of the biggest issues we face as leaders in the church world. With all of the pastoral care, loaded ministry schedule, and one-on-one meetings, it can be difficult to find spare time in the day to focus on digital strategy.
While we wish we could offer you an extra 2-4 hours to add to your day, we are unfortunately not time magicians! What we can offer you is a quick and easy way to save time so you can focus on your other important tasks.

One of the other big issues we face in digital strategy is sharing highly creative content. The Internet is loaded with all sorts of content and design aesthetics. Oftentimes, it can be difficult for your church’s content to stand out among the rest.
